Highlight reels on Instagram are curated. Full wedding galleries show how a photographer captures every part of a wedding day — not just the styled portraits.
Look for consistency, storytelling, and quality of images from start to finish.
4. How many weddings have you photographed?
Experience matters. A photographer who has shot 50+ weddings has likely learned how to manage unpredictable lighting, tight timelines, and stressful moments — all of which matter when your day doesn’t go perfectly.

5. Do you have backup equipment?
Cameras can fail. Lenses can break. Memory cards can corrupt.
A professional photographer should always have backup gear and multiple memory cards. If they don’t, that’s a red flag.
6. What happens if you’re sick or have an emergency
Ask if they have a trusted backup photographer or team in place in case they can’t make it. A professional should have a contingency plan — and ideally include that in the contract.
